This program called Vita means “life” in Latin. According to Getty Villa education specialist Erin Branham, The Getty Villa named the program so in the hopes that participating in it would be "memorable life experience for the participants."
The ViTA program is just one example of how teens can make the Classics come alive.
An internship like this allows one to gain real world experience around the ancient world. Note interning is a perfect answer one of my previous posts called the today show and the college essay: where a college admission officer explained the two ways he knows students can stand out in the sea of standardized testing and grade point average calculations.
At this point you may be thinking: "But I don't live near the Getty Villa to intern there!" What's another way you can create a real world Latin experience to your area of the country? Here's one other idea from the Ascanius Youth Classics Institute.
This program will fund high school and college students across the country who will provide interesting and exciting lessons to elementary school students.Scholarship funds are available in amounts ranging from $50 to $200. These funds must be used in the purchase of materials and other items related to the program.
